We encourage you to make comments on editorial content on our social media channels. Please observe the following rules.
In accordance with its statutory mandate, the Stasi Records Archive uses its social media channels to provide information on the structure, methods and operations of the Ministry for State Security, as well as on the development of the site “Stasi Headquarters. Campus for Democracy”, with the aim of promoting and supporting engagement with the mechanisms of the SED dictatorship.
We invite you to take part in discussions on these topics and to express your opinion freely. To ensure respectful communication between you and other users, we ask that you observe a few rules when using this dialogue platform:
1. Treat other users as you would like to be treated yourself. Always remain objective, constructive and fair by treating others politely and respectfully.
2. Comments that mock victims of the SED dictatorship or the Stasi, or that trivialise or relativise the injustices of the SED dictatorship, will not be tolerated.
3. Personal attacks, insults, defamation, insinuations and provocations, as well as posts containing vulgar, offensive or defamatory content, are not permitted.
4. Furthermore, offensive, discriminatory, hateful remarks or content that glorifies violence is not permitted. This includes anti-constitutional, racist or sexist remarks, as well as defamation of minorities or people with disabilities.
5. Advertising, off-topic posts and links to external sites that do not relate to the subject of the original post are also not permitted.
6. Respect the personal rights of third parties. Speculation about other users, their motives or personal histories does not contribute to the discussion.
The editorial team will delete posts that violate these rules. We will indicate in the comments where posts have been deleted and reserve the right to permanently ban users in the event of repeated violations.
We expressly distance ourselves from all linked external content. We also distance ourselves from comments and posts published on other social media channels via our platform or by other users on our channels.
The respective authors are responsible for their own comments, not the Stasi Records Archive. In the case of comments eligible for copyright protection, the copyright generally remains with the author. However, by posting content, authors grant the Stasi Records Archive permission to permanently host and archive it on our channel.
We are aware that the internet never sleeps. Please understand, however, that we are unable to respond to all enquiries in real time.
