In addition to the files on Stasi victims, the Stasi Records Archive also contains files on employees of the Ministry for State Security. These are also included in the collection of sample files. Unlike the victims, former Stasi employees have no right to anonymity. Their names and other information do not need to be redacted. Information about third parties, such as relatives of employees or victims mentioned in their reports, remains anonymous.
The files on employees are available in the archive in large numbers and in many variations. In addition to the files of the Main Department for Cadres and Training, which was responsible for official Stasi employees, files on unofficial collaborators, cell informants, or so-called officers on special assignment are also on display.
